What is Herts Connected?

Herts Connected is a free interactive messaging service provided by Hertfordshire Constabulary. It allows residents and businesses who work and live in Hertfordshire to stay informed about what’s happening in their local area and have a say in local policing matters.

Here’s what you need to know about the Herts Connected platform:

To connect the police with the community, providing updates on crime, ongoing incidents, emergencies, and local police activities. It also allows for a two-way dialogue on community safety issues.

Sign-up is quick and easy via the Herts Connected website.

You can choose which organisations you want to receive messages from, including Hertfordshire Constabulary, the Police and Crime Commissioner, Neighbourhood Watch, and Action Fraud.

You can Personalise Messages: Your preferences ensure that the messages you receive are relevant to your interests and not just based on your postcode.

The platform is used to share various types of information, such as crime prevention advice, details of local events and engagement opportunities, updates on police investigations, and appeals for information.

There is a two-way Communication: While it’s not a platform for reporting crimes, you can often reply to messages to engage with your local Neighbourhood Policing Team about community concerns, request patrols, or provide information about reported crimes.

Herts connected is a replacement of OWL: Herts Connected replaced the previous Online Watch Link (OWL) system in April 2024. Existing OWL users needed to sign up for the new platform.

Herts Connected also serves as a way for the police to gather feedback from the community on local policing priorities and how they are tackling crime. Surveys are sometimes distributed through the platform.

In summary, Herts Connected is a valuable tool for staying informed and connected with Hertfordshire Constabulary and other community safety organizations in the county. It allows you to receive targeted updates and have a voice in shaping the safety of your local area.

For this initiative to be successful, the Police are asking you to add your generic business email to their database. This will then give them the ability to send out information specific to your local area and address your needs and concerns following any feedback you may provide.
