East Herts Council – on street parking consultation

East Herts Council is considering introducing new charges for on-street parking in Bishop’s Stortford, Hertford and Ware town centres.

They say… “Introducing a charge for short stays (40p / 50p for 30 minutes) would improve the management of on-street parking, encouraging a turnover of space to reduce congestion, improve traffic flows and provide the right level of parking to support our town centres.

It would also ensure the user pays for parking services – a key principle of the council’s budget setting to help bridge its funding gap.

The proposals would see drivers pay for parking on-street using PaybyPhone, with the same online, app or call payment options available as in East Herts managed car parks.”

Anyone can comment on this consultation, and if you think this will affect your business, we urge you to register your comments on the East Herts website. The BID will be objecting. You have until 3 March to make your comment.
