Car Park Marshals in Jackson Square for Christmas Shopping Peak Times

With the Christmas shopping season shortened this year due to the forced closures of many shops during lockdown, we anticipate December being a busy month. Jackson Square car park is the biggest and most popular car park in the town centre and we are all aware that during busy times it can gridlock. Taking this into account, and following the success of the marshals the BID funded in December 2019, we can confirm that the BID will once again be funding these marshals for December 2020.

Reassurance and Advice

The marshals are there to be a visible presence to offer reassurance to car park users. By having marshals on site, they can monitor the situation and work quickly to alert East Herts to ensure any gridlock situation can be dealt with swiftly and the car park reopened again. They’ll also be there to offer help with the car park machines, to help people exit the car park promptly and as a security presence. They will be in branded hi vis jackets so do look out of them and ask for help if required.

Our advice to Jackson Square car park users

Please be patient, at very busy times if may be necessary to close the car park for a  short period (often this can be for just 15 minutes) and staff will work quickly to reopen it as soon as it is safe. If you can, please try to shop outside of peak times, we find midweek days after 3pm the quietest. Many shops will be open longer hours.

Days the marshals will be working

Friday 4 / Saturday 5 / Sunday 6 December

Friday 11 / Saturday 12 / Sunday 13 December

Friday 19 / Saturday 20 / Sunday 21 December

Monday 21 / Tuesday 22 / Wednesday 23 December

They will be on site from 9am to 5pm on all the above days.
