A message from Bishop’s Stortford Town Council regarding road closures on the day:
Bishop’s Stortford Carnival Parade and Fun Day bring the community together to celebrate everything that is good about Bishop’s Stortford and promises to be a great day out for all ages. The Carnival Parade starts from South Mill Arts Centre, South Road, at 12.30 and consists of individuals, floats, walking groups, marching bands and dance troops.
The Carnival Fun Day on Sworders Field, CM23 2EL, commences at 12.00 and carries on until 17.00. Many community groups and other organisations take part. These include charities, local businesses and touring attractions offering a fun fair, stalls, live music, theatrical performances and dance, as well as a wealth of entertainment for children and adults alike.
South Road between the junctions with London Road and Havers Lane will be closed on Saturday 18 June 2022 from 11.30-13.00 to facilitate the set up and departure of the parade. Ingress and egress will therefore be limited to emergency vehicles and vehicles associated with the event.
Additionally, there will be a rolling road closure until 14.20 of:
- South Street
- Potter Street
- Market Street
- North Street
- Hadham Road
- Northgate End
- Link Road
These roads will be closed in turn for a short time while the parade passes through. The roads will then operate as normal.
Unfortunately any road closure almost inevitably causes some inconvenience to a minority of people. We do, of course, endeavour to minimise both the level of inconvenience and the number of people affected, but it is not always possible to eliminate it completely.
Timings for the event are as follows:
- Road closures and restrictions 11.30-13.00. Rolling road closures until 14.20
- Departure of Parade 12.30
- Fun Day at Sworders Field 12.00
Bishop’s Stortford Carnival is an event for the whole Town and we hope you will attend and enjoy the day.
