BID Car Park Marshals back for Christmas

Jackson Square is the car park of choice for many shoppers and visitors to the town centre, but as we all know it can get busy at peak times, and unfortunately this has led to gridlock in the past.

To keep this car park open and flowing as much as possible in the run up to Christmas, the BID have once again funded parking marshals in Jackson Square. They started Black Friday weekend, and will be there every Friday, Saturday and Sunday until 23 December. Whilst this doesn’t solve the problem totally, the marshals are there to keep an eye on numbers, offer reassurance and advice. If a gridlock situation occurs, they will be on hand to work with the East Herts team to manage it as quickly as possible. This normally involves closing the entrance temporarily for a very short period of time to allow cars out. It can then reopen. By being on site we can help keep any closure to a minimum and reduce any negative online comments about coming into the town centre.

You may want to remind your customers / clients that there are other car parks located close by that may be a suitable alternative, Link Road is just opposite the old Causeway and is a great short stay option. Or just next to it is Northgate End, which offers both long and short stay parking. With over 570 spaces and traffic controlled exit, this may be easier.

Christmas Fayre day on Saturday 2 December is expected to be a very busy day for parking. You can find more details about all parking options here.
