Northgate End: reduced long-stay charges

As of April 1st 2024, car parking tariffs in Bishop’s Stortford are changing.

The new charging structure will be as follows:

Northgate End car park. We’re pleased to announce fees are reducing to encourage usage for long-stay parking, which will have a positive impact on our businesses and town centre workers.

•    The ‘All day’ charge will be reduced from £5.20 to £4.20
•    The ‘Five hour’ charge will be reduced from £4.30 to £3.70
•    The ‘Four hour’ charge will be reduced from £3.50 to £3.20
•    The one, two and three hour charges will be frozen

We are aware that there has been a lot of resistance to the use of Northgate End car park, mainly around the vehicular entrance, movement triggered lighting and safety. The BID continues a campaign of lobbying for these issues to be resolved as quickly as possible.

Apton Road and Basbow Lane car parks. To discourage long-stay usage there is a higher price increase on the all-day and 5 hours tariffs. The aim is to improve the availability of short term/shopper parking spaces.

•    The ‘All day’ charge will be increased to £6.50
•    The ‘Five hour’ charge will be increased to £4.60
•    All other charges will rise by approximately 6.7%, in line with inflation
