As you will be aware temporary measures have been in place in Bishop’s Stortford town centre as part of Hertfordshire County Council’s response to managing the risks of Covid-19. These were put in place to enable social distancing and create better conditions for walking and cycling, in line with the Public Health campaign to promote social distancing within the high street. This included the implementation of orange barriers, pedestrianised areas and changes to traffic flow.
HCC have advised us that on the evening of Monday 12 October they will be removing the orange barriers and replacing them with planters. This should improve the look of the town greatly.
Businesses in the area should be receiving a letter from HCC with the full details, a copy of which can be found here. A map showing the plans is also included.
Please be aware that on the night of Monday 12 October from 8pm they will have vehicles in the road installing the planters. They will try to maintain access for deliveries, but there could be delays. If you are due a delivery after 8pm on Monday they recommend rescheduling if possible, or making the driver aware they may have to wait to access South Street.
